Welcome to Pergamino!

This Privacy Policy describes how Pergamino ("Pergamino," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the Pergamino mobile application (the "App") and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Pergamino is an enterprise platform designed for workplace knowledge sharing, learning, and engagement through short-form video. Our Service is primarily intended for use by organizations ("Customers") and their authorized employees, contractors, and other personnel ("Authorized Users").

This Privacy Policy applies to the information processed through the App. Please note that our Customers (typically your employer or the organization providing you access) act as the primary data controller for much of the content and data processed within their instance of the Service. This policy should be read in conjunction with your organization's own policies.

By using the App, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information
We Collect
We collect information necessary to provide and improve the Service:

Account Information: When an account is created (often by your organization), we collect information such as your name, work email address, company affiliation, job title (optional), profile picture (optional), and account credentials.

User-Generated Content: We collect the videos, comments, messages, posts, likes, saved items, and associated metadata (titles, descriptions, tags) that you create, upload, or interact with while using the Service ("User Content").

Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you interact with the App and Service, such as videos viewed, features used, search queries performed, content shared, interaction times, frequency of use, and general engagement patterns.

Device and Technical Information: We collect information about the device you use to access the App, including device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers (where applicable), IP address, mobile network information, and crash data.

AI Feature Data: If you use features involving Artificial Intelligence (e.g., video creation from text, meeting summaries, automatic updates, personalized feed), we process the necessary input data (text, video, audio) to provide the feature and may use anonymized data to improve the AI models.

3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for purposes including:Providing and Maintaining the Service: Operating the App, authenticating users, enabling video creation, sharing, and discovery, providing personalized feeds, and delivering core functionalities.Improving the Service: Analyzing usage patterns to understand user needs, troubleshoot issues, enhance existing features, and develop new ones (including improving AI algorithms).

Personalization: Customizing your experience, such as recommending relevant videos or content in your feed.Communication: Sending service-related notifications, updates, security alerts, and support messages (potentially via services like SendGrid).

Supporting Our Customers: Providing analytics and insights to our Customers (your organization) about usage and engagement within their instance of the Service.Security and Compliance: Protecting the security and integrity of the Service, preventing fraud, enforcing our terms, and complying with legal obligations.

4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information under the following circumstances:

Within Your Organization: Your User Content (videos, comments, profile information) is shared with other Authorized Users within your organization based on the permissions and workspace settings configured by your organization (the Customer).

With Our Customers (Your Organization): We provide your organization with access to data related to their instance of the Service, including usage analytics and User Content created within their workspaces, as they are typically the data controller.

Service Providers: We share information with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf (e.g., cloud hosting (like AWS/GCP), backend services (Firebase), data analytics (Google Analytics), email delivery (SendGrid), customer support tools, AI processing). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.

Expert Network (If Applicable): If your organization utilizes features involving our Expert Network, aggregated/anonymized usage data related to expert content might be shared with those experts. Experts do not have access to private company content unless explicitly invited by your organization.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the information we collect from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include encryption, access controls, and regular security assessments. However, no internet or email transmission is ever fully secure or error-free, so please take special care in deciding what information you send to us or share via the Service.

Data RetentionWe retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you and your organization with the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Your organization may have its own data retention policies that apply to the content within their instance of the Service.

7. Your Data Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include the right to access, correct, update, or request deletion of your personal information.As Pergamino primarily processes data on behalf of our Customers (your organization), requests to exercise these rights should typically be directed to your organization's administrator first. We will assist our Customers in responding to these requests in accordance with our agreements and applicable law. You can typically manage your profile information and some User Content directly within the App.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for or directed to individuals under the age of 18 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, we will take steps to delete it.

9. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services to help us provide and improve the Service.
These include:
Firebase: Used for backend infrastructure, database management, and potentially authentication services.
Google Analytics: Used to understand how users interact with the App to help us improve the user experience.
SendGrid: Used to send transactional emails and service-related communications.
Cloud Hosting Providers: Used to host the Service infrastructure.These third parties may collect information about your use of the App in accordance with their own privacy policies.

10. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than the country in which you are resident. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country. We take appropriate safeguards to require that your personal information will remain protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy when transferred internationally.
